ART, GLOBALIZATION, & INTERCULTURALITY
gvc has been instrumental in the articulation of the Research Group on Art, Globalization and Interculturality, an academic research group affiliated with the University of Barcelona. Founded in 2007 by researchers affiliated with universities from Latin America, United States, Eastern and Central Europe, this long-term project involves theoreticians working in trans-disciplinary areas of expertise and develops theory-based programs derived from the convergence of diverse fields of research such as global studies, translation studies, postcolonial studies, visual studies, and world art studies among others. This group is currently linked to the Art History Department (University of Barcelona) where it promotes diverse activities such as seminars, talks, and symposia. Permanent researchers are faculty members of different universities while contribute on a regular basis to some of the University of Barcelona’s programs, such as the Postgraduate Degree on Contemporary Art Advanced Studies (Art History Department).
The Research Group on Art, Globalization and Interculturality aims to:
– stimulate intercultural debates on visuality
– promote cross-cultural approaches to worldwide art production/circulation
