gvc is an open forum for collective knowledge production. gvc promotes theory-based reflection and problem-oriented research with a focus on visuality as a global-scale intercultural phenomenon. The point of departure of gvc is the recognition of a series of geocultural dilemmas and aesthetic strains derived from the modern presumption that there is only one, unique and universal visual reason.

Founded in 2007 in Barcelona, gvc is a not-for-profit, self-managed platform that estimulates extra-disciplinary approaches to visuality, develops alternative pedagogical models, and promotes the transformation of our practices of looking as well as the ways in which we make sense of the diverse visual cultures which coexist in our globalized world. As a trans-academic platform, gvc develops projects in collaboration with museums, research institutes and cultural organizations involving scholars, theoreticians, artists and critics across the globe. read more ›››
