JOANNE MORRA

Is Senior Lecturer at the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, University of Arts, London. Is the Co-ordinator of Historical and Theoretical Studies on the BA in Fine Art. Joanne is a Founder and the Principal Editor of the Journal of Visual Culture and is a Founder of the cultural theory journal Parallax. In these two capacities, she has co-edited various collections, including, Cultural Studies and Philosophy (1995), Dissonant Feminisms (1996), Kojeve’s Paris/Now Bataille (1997), Translating ‘Algeria’ (1998), Translator’s Ink (2000), The Re-Interpretation of Dreams (2000,) and To Jean-Francois Lyotard (2000). Joanne has also co-edited the book The Limits of Death (Manchester University Press, 2000), and two volumes on prosthetics, The Prosthetic Aesthetic, ‘New Formations’ (2002), and The Prosthetic Impulse: From a Posthuman Present to a Biocultural Future (forthcoming with MIT, 2006). She has published on art, theory and history, and is presently completing a book on translation and art, while working on her next book concerned with art, psychoanalysis and the spaces of the consulting room, the studio, and the gallery.
