DOCUMENTING GLOBAL ART

Experimental Researching and Cataloging Tools
______________________________________________________________________
In collaboration with the program Art et Mondialisation (Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art-Paris), gvc develops a research project devoted to analyze the relation between art archives, creative cataloging, and critical theory. The first two seminars organized by gvc focused on the construction of databases and the promotion of experimental researching tools. Originated at La mondialisation enrayée? Micro-politiques et pratiques locales de l’art (EHESS-CESTA/INHA, December 2009) -a symposium organized by Patricia Falguières (Centre de sociologie du travail et des arts, EHESS), Zahia Rahmani (Programme Art et mondialisation, INHA), and Cédric Vincent (EHESS), this collaborative research involves scholars and archivists interested in expanding the scope of visual studies, digital curating, contemporary art, and postcolonial studies.
