A COLLABORATIVE CARTOGRAPHY OF RADICAL EXPERIMENTS SINCE 1960s
Using collective mapping, The Ignorant Factory is preparing a visual cartography of pedagogical experiments and radical art schools appeared in the last decades, devoted to expand the vocabulary, practice, and political scope of collective artistic research. Taking Brian Holmes counter-mapping of power structures as the starting point of this visual map, AESTHETIC PEDAGOGIES has been conceived as a collaborative work in progress database for the activation of our poetic and political social memory.
This project explores the connection between art, labor, and knowledge. By revisiting Joseph Jacotot's pedagogical radicalism implied in the idea of the "ignorant master", the Ignorant Factory takes as a point of departure the following principles: that art is a political instrument for the creative exercise of freedom and that critical pedagogy is a collective emancipation tool.
